How to Stop Beagle Biting Problems

A lot of new beagle owners could experience problems with their puppy biting, especially when they first bring the dog home. Although biting sounds like an aggressive behaviour, most of the time it is innocent and just a result of a dog exploring and trying to communicate with you. Biting in young beagle puppies usually takes the form of soft nips which will be harmless most of the time. A puppy can however have rather sharp teeth which are perfectly capable of drawing blood. When children are involved these innocent bites can actually cause real pain and injuries which need to be avoided at all costs.

The best way to deal with these playful bites is to limit any games which could encourage this kind of behaviour while your beagle is still learning the difference between right and wrong. The other aspect of learning how to stop beagle biting problems involved letting your beagle know when his behaviour is unacceptable. The easiest way to do this is to tell him in a firm voice. It will take a while, but if you remain consistent with your commands and do not tolerate biting or nipping on any level, your beagle puppy will get the message and begin to change the way he acts for the better.

If the biting seems to actually be aggressive in nature you will need to see an experienced dog trainer who can assess the situation. There could be many reasons why a dog may act this way. One is injury or illness, so also book a vet’s appointment.
